Bloomberg: Russian billionaires gain $9.76 bln since January 1

MOSCOW, Aug 2 (PRIME) -- The combined wealth of 28 Russian billionaires has increased by U.S. $9.756 billion since January 1, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index seen by PRIME late on Tuesday.

Russia’s richest tycoon is Alexei Mordashov, core owner of steelmaker Severstal, whose wealth has gained $247 million to $17.2 billion since January 1. Norilsk Nickel’s President Vladimir Potanin was ranked second wealthiest, but his fortune fell by $27.3 million to $16.6 billion. The third place was occupied by Viktor Vekselberg, core owner of multi-industry holding Renova Group, with the wealth rising $1.31 billion to $15.5 billion.

Core owner and CEO of independent gas producer Novatek Leonid Mikhelson was one of the biggest losers with the wealth falling $2.09 billion to $15.2 billion.

The index is calculated based on capitalization and financial reports of companies owned by businessmen, or on a ratio between capitalization and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization or a ratio between a share price and earnings per share.
